Gamma Ray is great, one of my favouritest ones. I didn't hear Majestic yet :(
It's hard to say the best album, but I voted for Land of the Free - it was my first metal album and I love it :)

I can't really choose between 'Heading For Tomorrow' and 'Land of the Free'. I haven't heard Majestic neither, so I will hear those songs at the first time at the concert tomorrow! Gamma Ray rules, I love them. :)

Majestic isn't bad at all. It's good to very good, but I need more listenings. :)

For now, I'd choose between No World Order and Somewhere Out In Space. Both are very good!

ps: haven't voted yet. Majestic is still in the running. ;)

Heading For tomorrow!!!. Ralph had so many genious-melodies on the vocals.
After "Heading for tomorrow" i would pick "Land of the free". Has anyone seen the live-dvd where Kai hansen sings Ride the sky? That blew my fucking ears away when i heard :p

The concert yesterday was AWESOME. Kai and his comrades were rocked Budapest, they came and killed.
Fantastic show it was, perfect balance between old and new songs, so the setlist could not be better.
Everyone from the band seemed to enjoy the gig, they were smilin' all the time, makin' fun of each other. And the audience were fantastic, we sang the great hymns just like 'Rebellion In Dreamland', 'Heavy Metal Universe','The Silence', 'Land of the Free' etc. together. :)
Those were the moments I can tell, when a thousand of people shouted WE'RE HEAVY METAL BOUND!!!
:headbang:
So it was a great pleasure to headbang and scream the shit out of myself. After 'I Want Out' I thought that I will faint.
Thank you Gamma Ray, you'll always be in my heart! Up the Rayz!!!!
Here's the setlist, if someone wants NO SPOILERS then just ignore it please.

Setlist:

1. Welcome
2. Gardens of the Sinner
3. New World Order
4. Space Eater
5. Fight
6. Blood Religion

Dan Zimmermann's drum solo
9. Strangers In The Night
10. Heavy Metal Universe

that concert was great, one of the best I was ever on... all of them are great musicians, I was just shocked when I saw Henjo playing his solos without any problem... and Kai singed all his parts without mistake, I didn't know he's so great singer... GREAT!
And the new cd, Majestic, is masterpiece, one of their best albums :headbang:

I've been out of metal for many months now and didn't even know that they released a new cd! So i haven't heard "Majestic" yet, but will order it tonight. Gamma Ray is one of my favorite power metal bands.

For now, i'd say that my favorite is "No World Order".

I'll never forget the first time i heard it. Literally, it gave me chills...the first three songs are simply amazing to me.

The first album I heard was No World Order...a great album for begginers...and the thing i like most bout Gamma Ray is that i can't say "that album is not good" all are great...
And Kiske and Kai are still friends...read all those interviews...Kai allways says that he talked to Kiske bout this and that...What was your First song???
Mine was Gamma Ray...actually the video...i liked it so much both music and the video...esspecially the Hippies...piece...

First Gamma Ray song i heard was their cover of the DIO/Rainbow classic "Long Live Rovk & Roll" and it sucked..Why the hell did they record it??They Destroyed the whole song. There i sno way they could preform thi ssong like it was meant to be.DIO Rules!!!!
Anyway..Later on they realesed "No World Order" and for some reason i gave the band a second chance..Im glad i did..As you all know that album rules :D Since then i have bought many albums by them and like them all. Both Ralph and Kai singers great, but of course Kai is way cooler..:p

This might be a dumb question, but it is next to impossible to find Gamma-Ray CDs where I live at, or hardly any quality European Metal CDs for that matter. Mostly b/c where I live at is a rual area, and Country, Pop, R&B, and Rap dominate the music scene around here. Metal does not exist where I live at. I have to make huge trips way out of town to find quality Metal CDs.

Anyways, back to the point: I still to this day do not have any Gamma-Ray CDs, due to the fact that I can't find any Gamma-Ray CDs in any musicstore around here.

Did Kai Hansen ever go back to the "Walls of Jericho" / "Helloween EP" days again with the Gamma-Ray CDs?

Any more Brutal Speed Metal with the Gamma-Ray CDs or are they more like Power Metal with the "Keeper" CDs?

I have heard people say before that "Land of the Free" was very very similar to the "Keeper" CDs. I heard some people say that "Land of the Free" was "Keeper part 3" without the Helloween logo, b/c the music is so similar to it.

Also, other than "Ride the Sky" and "I Want Out"; does Kai Hansen ever do any other Helloween songs?

Sorry, but I really don't know much about Gamma-Ray other than Kai Hansen from Helloween plays and sings for them, and the drummer is the same drummer from Freedom Call, and that "Land of the Free" is an extremely good CD from them.

Other than that, I know little or nothing about this band.

I'm no Gamma Ray expert, the_preacher seems to be the one you need (according to the specialist topic). Or you could try asking Powerray, a Belgian who's a very big GR fan.

Anyhow, I do can give tell you this (from my experience):

Albums you must have, next to Land Of The Free, are Somewhere Out In Space, No World Order and Majestic (= the latest). Skeletons In The Closet (live album) is also very good.

Try online shops like Amazon, emp.de, Century Media's shop (www.centurymedia.com or .de), Nuclear Blast's shop (http://shop.nuclearblast.de), .... :)

Well Gamma Ray is more closer to the Keeper albums than to Walls of Jericho in my opinion. Maybe 'No World Order' is the album that is the closest to WoJ.
Well I think you should start with 'The Land of the Free' or with 'Heading for Tomorrow' (Ralf Scheepers on vocals) and after that continue with 'Majestic', 'Powerplant', 'Somewhere Out In Space' etc....
